homage: Ramos pt.2 by theCHAMBA homage: Ramos pt.2 by theCHAMBA
Ramos new book revelations.. pretty cool so far... so i wanted to do sumfin for it..

i used a ball-point pen... man it sure is fun 2 use... haven't used one in a whiles.. and it took me like.. next to nuthin 2 sketch out too..

i think like 25 minutes or sumfin..

anyway this is like a full on tribute type thing.. sketch w/ basic colours... dunno if it worked.. but yeh.. it's here and i likes it..

for this i adopted the 'Ramos Revelations Eyes'.. heh.. where its like inverted.. weird.. but yeh.. whatever

alrite
now this is done..

onto the next one..

anyway.. here are the previous installments of the 'homage' series

Good work. I think I like the pen drawing more, since it's more raw, and shows the fun you had doing it. I work mostly in graphite and ink, but am starting to get into digital work, so I was wondering: how did you convert to the pic on the right--the process?

the lines were under the colours.. not common for me.. the colours were set above on various layer settings.. experimentation helps

Definitely has a nice effect to it. Wish I could pull it off but I aint used to sketching with a pen, much less a ball point. It ends up looking messy.

depends on the kind of look you're trying to achieve, I suppose.

Messy is fun. And so is dirt.

Came out sweet! Really dig how free this looks!

Is funny but I tend to find some of my best stuff comes out when I'm doodling around with a ball point. Remember seeing a couple that MAD! did in the back of a BC and they just looked amazing!

To be honest, the whole inverse-eye thing that Ramos does has always bugged me, and I know I'm not the only one. It just makes the character look...weird, in my opinion. Especially the detective from Spectacular Spiderman (i can't think of his name at the moment).

I dig the sketch a lot, especially the shading. It has a loose spontaneous quality to it. The colors are great too.

This was something I had to skip... blame my country's economy :(
I hope I'd be able to give it a shot as a TPB or something...

Anyway, great work. You are like McGyver. You can do amazing things with a ballpoint pen.

And that comment sucked.

That's a big difference between the linework and the colors, yet both are just as awesome?! Gotta love the shading and um.. *swipes that nice green sweater and runs*

That was meant in a good way! *faves then runs off with sweater* :D

As usual, GREAT work! It's awesome that this stemmed from a pen sketch, it only goes to show the skill of the person drawing it. Great stuff!
