Walking with Elena by theCHAMBA Walking with Elena by theCHAMBA
and here's another walkthrough following Walking with Cammy by theCHAMBA

The primary requirement of this piece, was that I use the exact same pose of Elena as originally drawn by Kinu Nishimura www.sfgalleries.net/art/sf3/sf…

1) Inked in lines using Pentel Brush Pen.
2) Using Sharpie, coloured up the aspects of her with some vibrant colours.
3) Here we have the final, with Copic Markers used for her flesh, hair and clothing.

Really enjoyed this piece.
very fun.

Can I ask you why for some areas you choose Copic Markers and for some others you use Sharpie?

variety, and because I enjoy the vibrancy of Sharpie.

Sharpie markers are usually used to draw posters so doing this is quite extraodinary.

Do you find rendering darker skin tones more challenging than lighter skin tones?

:iconthechamba:

not really.
What i find most challenging is how to react to different paper + marker combinations.
One can have an idea of if a marker will bleed or not, but can never be 100%.

You mentioned you use Quill White XL Multiboard A3 210gsm for your paper so do you just stick with that then? I just absolutely love the colouring on your pieces!

In the end, I use whatever I have available to me at the moment.
So whatever I can get my hands up at the very moment I'm drawing.

Do you find that the Pentel Brush Pen does not smudge with Copic marker?

Also, what type of paper are you using? Strathmore Bristol board, Comic paper, regular paper?

Paper : Quill White XL Multiboard A3 210gsm

I use the Pentel brush because I love the flow and due to the lack of smudges (based on experience)
