In Step 5, did just create a white Layer with Overlay?

Question, after you decide on an option do you print out the concept in blue line? Or do you re-pencil it altogether?

From step 3 onwards do you shade and highlight by creating selections or are you painting with brushes directly?
Reply
:iconthechamba:
theCHAMBA Featured By Owner Sep 8, 2012
creating selections, BUT you can also paint directly if that is how you prefer.

This is hot Chamba! When you pencil, how do you get the figures to look so fluid? I watch your covers and I'm fascinated on how the figures are in a stance but still possess the sense of motion. Be blessed!

This is so incredible in so many levels but I just have one curiosity: how do you get rid of the trace line? :O
Reply
:iconthechamba:
theCHAMBA Featured By Owner Oct 24, 2009
what trace line?
Reply
:iconpaulvincent:
PaulVincent Featured By Owner Oct 25, 2009
I mean, your original sketch has a normal black line trace on the characters, the one you used to ink them. But the in final colored piece, the edges are so light that you can barely see any trace line on the edges of the characters.

did you happen to check my resources folder in my gallery?
coz it probably would've been wise to do that before you asked the question.

also the wacom only really leaves less stress on my index finger (as opposed to the mouse)
but otherwise it's jst another tool.
shouldn't rely on it to make you a better artist.

im impressed by the composition of your drawings and the dynamic every one of them have; ive been looking through your gallery just now and i was like "woow"
mind if i ask a question? do you apply a blur effect when doing shadows?
because i couldnt help but notice the huge difference between steps 3 and 4
Thank you and keep up this fantastic work!
