A more serious reboot of Inspector Gadget could be so awesome! It would require some pretty big changes, mostly making Gadget and M.A.D. more competent, and Brain more dog-like. But there would need to be some area where Gadget was still utterly useless, so that Penny could still be helpful... maybe dealing with other people? Gadget seems to be a terrible judge of character, and having trouble with human interaction would make sense if he's a cyborg. But when things get dangerous, Gadget is the man-machine for the job!
Anyway, in this hypothetical reboot, it should have this art style.
Many fans of the original would be older now, and would probably enjoy a more serious story about a cyborg detective. It would be important to avoid the "darker and grittier" mistake of throwing in needless sex and violence, however. Ideally, the people who make the reboot would be fans of the original.
Great pic! If Cookie Jar Entertainment (the company formerly known as Dic) decided to team up with Madhouse or Studio 4 Degrees Celsius for an Inspector Gadget remake, I imagine the art style would look like this. In fact, I would love to see a Inspector Gadget remake as long as Cree Summer and Frank Welker reprise their character roles. Great pic!
Great job on this one. I really like the way you designed his fingers to also be part of the gun.
One thing, though. I think the girl's skin is too grayish/bluish. She needs a little more human flesh-toning. The was she is right now, she looks like one of the aliens from Interstella 5555, or someone with Argyria [link]
