Very cool! :D I love the Japanese/East Indian Game Genie Deity monster and background. The pirate lady's hair is wicked, some slick character design!

I was fangirling, but trying to be really quiet since everyone else in the house was asleep. I'm pretty sure it was a really funny sight. lol

YOU HAVE MOE~!

Again a beast on composition as always chamba. Diggin the rendering And tone of lighting on pirate dame. It looks like you opted to paint her instead over cel shade. Will need to get a better look on the pc.
Keep inspiring dude :)

so awesome! i love how you kept a lot of the pencil line art in Matilda.

thanks man
yeah I had to keep as much pencil on her as possible.
getting the scan clean enough to still have the few renderings visible was a pain, but worth it in the end.

For some reason this looks like two different pieces. Wouldn't the yellow light from the Shiva monster shine on the pirate lady?
Other than that, I think framing the pirate with the monster's limbs was a really good idea; the design is really solid.

the 'shiva' doesn't actually eminate 'light'.
not at the intensity that one might assume based on her design.

Love the contrast of (what looks like) pencil work against the pixelly/digital backdrop. Great piece!

yep.
Matilda (pirate) was pencilled traditionally, and then everything was done digitally.

Beautiful piece man. You did things a little differently colorwise didn't you? Matilda looks gorgeous.

thanks mate.
I went with a soft cel shading on her.
It worked for the piece, so I'm glad I went that direction.

It definitely worked great. But actually when I looked at her, I thought you had gone for a painted approach as opposed to your traditional cell-shading one. I guess the soft edges fooled me. BTW, I'm not sure I understand how cell-shading (aka selections) can have soft edges... No biggie if you don't have time to answer :)

well soft-cell is basicalky airbrushed to me,
so yeah it's painted in rather than lasso.

so I guess you're on point with your thoughts when you think about it, hehe
